Some Wildfires Are Actually Good for Nature

Usually we think of forest fires as an incredibly destructive event. That’s why Smokey the Bear has always reminded us that “Only you can prevent forest fires.” However, even Smokey knows that fires can be beneficial for some ecosystems. This video shows you why. Fire clears away things like leaf litter and dead wood, which helps forests to regenerate.

There are other ways to help forests bounce back after a fire or other human activity like logging.
