A Fascinating New Window Into The Rare World of Orcas

Out in the ocean is a world that is absolutely incredible and filled with creatures that seem like they were made for an entirely different planet. But for orcas, they actually have a lot of human social interactions.

These whales have incredibly complex social lives, the likes of which are really only comparable to humans, elephants, and higher primates. Being able to put some of those interactions on film however, is difficult.

Orca whales travel over 100 miles a day in their close-knit pods, which can make it difficult for wildlife photographers to get good footage of these incredible marine mammals.

That’s why wildlife documentarian David Riggs created an underwater device specifically designed to document these cetaceans, with a camera mounted on the front and another on the back.

Watch the video to have a look at the rare footage of orcas in Bremer Canyon.
